		There are different types of vices which fit into the table category. These vices are all small and portable, with their main difference being that they are speciality vices designed for different tasks.

		Hobby vice
		A hobby vice is an ideal tool for DIY users, model makers and hobbyists as they are designed to hold small and delicate objects without damaging the material.

		They are an ideal vice to use around the home, particularly for light-duty work, such as crafting and model making.

		They are the smallest type of table vice and differ from regular models, as they are not usually equipped with pipe jaws. Their small design means they are an ideal vice be used for difficult or awkward applications that require working within a confined space.

		Jeweller’s vice
		A jeweller’s vice is a portable device that has rubber jaws to allow it to grip small and delicate material without causing any damage.

		The head of the jeweller’s vice rests on a ball joint so it can swivel 360 degrees to allow the user to work at the most convenient angle.

		Multi-angle vice
		A multi-angle vice also features a ball joint, meaning its head can be rotated around 360 degrees and locked in any desired position. Depending on the size of the vice, a multi-angle vice can have capabilities from light to heavy-duty work.

		A multi-angle vice is used for adjusting a workpiece into a more accessible position, without having to move the vice’s base. They can be used to position a workpiece in a horizontal, vertical or diagonal position which is ideal for many DIY tasks, especially cutting.

		When completing small angled cuts such as ones for mitre or bevel joints, the vice allows the workpiece to be set at the most convenient angle, easing the task and decreasing the strain on the user’s hand.

		The vice is also an ideal tool to be used for light filing. During this process, it is important to make sure all sides of an object are equally filed. The ball joint allows the vice to quickly rotate the object and set it at a different angle for filing, rather than wasting time removing and replacing the workpiece within the jaws.
