Remember: Before sawing in any floorboards you should check what is beneath them using a pipe or cable detector.
Grip the handle of the floorboard saw in your dominant hand and extend your index finger along the handle so that it points towards the end of the blade. Keep your finger extended when working to help you guide the saw.
You can place your other hand on the material you are cutting to steady yourself, but make sure you keep your fingers well away from the blade!
When using the curved nose of the saw to cut, you can grip the handle in much the same way as above. However, it is recommended that you do not extend your index finger when sawing this way, as it may come into contact with the teeth.
When sawing in either manner, make sure you are in a comfortable position, and try to stand or sit directly behind the section you are cutting.
