A coping saw has a thin blade stretched between a U-shaped frame and attached to a handle. The blade is designed to be removed from the frame.
A fret saw is very similar but has a deeper frame, and a shorter thinner blade designed for even tighter curved cuts
A piercing or jeweller’s saw is basically a smaller version of a coping saw but the blades available to fit it are usually thinner, and have more teeth per inch.
Holding the saw correctly
There are several different ways in which you can hold these types of saws, but most people like to place both hands on the handle, for extra support.
You should also make sure you’re in a comfortable position, and try to stand or sit directly behind the material being cut.
