How you charge a cordless screwdriver battery will depend on whether it’s integral or detachable. It may also vary between different brands.
Integral batteries
Cable
Cordless screwdrivers with integral batteries can be charged using a cable.
One end attaches to the tool, the other plugs into a mains socket, much like a phone charger.
Charger
Some integral batteries can also be charged using a stand alone charger.
The charger connects to the mains supply and transfers electrical current to the tool’s battery through the handle.
If a charger is not included when you purchase the tool, or if you ever have to buy a new one, make sure you choose the correct charger for your battery.
The charger will be labelled with the material and voltage of battery it can charge.
Please note: Because the battery cannot be removed from the tool, a cordless screwdriver with an integral battery cannot be used while the battery is charging.
Detachable batteries
Charger
A cordless screwdriver with a detachable battery requires a charger, which connects to a mains supply in order to charge the tool.
Chargers come in many different shapes and sizes.
If a charger is not included when you purchase the tool, or if you ever have to buy a new one, make sure you choose the correct charger for your battery.
The charger will be labelled with the material and voltage of battery it can charge.
Please note: While the battery is charging you will not be able to use your cordless screwdriver, unless you purchase a spare battery to use in the tool while the first is charging.
