A double-ended pin vice works in the same way as a swivel head pin vice, except it has a chuck head at both ends. Because it has a collet at each end, the user is able to quickly switch between collet sizes.
Compared to a swivel-headed pin vice, a double-ended pin vice may be more useful if your project requires you to switch between two sizes of drill bit.
Having a collet at each end allows the user to quickly flip the tool over and use the opposite end so it can be used for two parts of the same job. You could ream a pipe with one end of the pin vice and deburr it using the other.
This eliminates the need to unscrew and insert a different bit or accessory each time.
Double-ended pin vices are normally made from steel and can be nickel-plated.
Most double-ended vices are between 100mm (3 15/16″) and 110mm (4 5/16″)in length, but a longer version of the tool is available which is approximately 230mm (9″) long.
