How to check caliper calibration |

Close the jaws of your caliper and then look for gaps between them.
If the caliper is not reading zero and there is a gap between the jaws, clean them thoroughly and check them again. |

If the zero on the vernier scale lines up with zero on the main scale when the jaws are closed, your vernier caliper is calibrated correctly. Alternatively, you can now buy digital calipers which calibrate themselves. | |||
