What are pick-up tools made from? |

The end of a pick-up tool holds a strong neodymium magnet which attracts ferromagnetic materials to the tool.

The telescopic tubing or flexible shaft of a pick-up tool is usually made from aluminium or stainless steel. Both are non-magnetic so as not to interfere with the tool. Aluminium and stainless steel are also both corrosion resistant.
The claw of the clawed pick-up tool is also made from either stainless steel or aluminium, with a plastic spring handle mechanism.
Some pick-up tools come with a cushioned rubber handle. This helps improve the grip of the tool and also helps the tool not to slip if the user’s hands are wet.
