A hacksaw can be used to cut pipe, however, using a pipe cutter can be much more efficient. | |||

This is because it gives a cleaner cut with relatively little need for deburring afterwards (removal of sharp edges).
A pipe cutter also leaves little or no swarf (sawdust) to contaminate your pipework. As the tool is designed to fit around piping, it is less likely to slip, making it also the safer option. |
