Pipe cutters are used to cut metal piping to length at installation or for repair work, and are ideal for cutting out damaged sections of pipe prior to being replaced.
Why use a pipe cutter?
A hacksaw can be used to cut pipe, however, using a pipe cutter can be much more efficient.
This is because it gives a cleaner cut with relatively little need for deburring afterwards (removal of sharp edges).
A pipe cutter also leaves little or no swarf (sawdust) to contaminate your pipework.
As the tool is designed to fit around piping, it is less likely to slip, making it also the safer option.
