What is a hand magnet?

Two red standard lift hand magnets lifting a door from an electrical box

A hand magnet is a type of magnet with a handle for easy lifting and manipulation of ferromagnetic materials. The handle aids the manipulation of ferromagnetic materials by allowing the user to have a better grip onto the sometimes awkward and dangerous pieces of ferromagnetic material, for example, extremely hot and sharp sheets of steel after they have been cut with a laser.

Wonkee Donkee says "Ferromagnetic materials are those which are attracted by a magnetic force. To be ferromagnetic it must contain a element of iron, nickel, cobalt, or gadolinium"

They are predominantly used for lifting and carrying sheet steel after it has been cut.

Types of hand magnet: lift, multi lift and magnetic claw

They come in three forms: lift, multi-lift, and magnetic claw.
