What are hand magnets used for?

  Laser cutting steel

Hand magnets are used for lifting laser cut steel out of the original steel sheet after it has been cut. The magnet’s extended handle allows the user to be at arm’s length from the sharp edges of the newly cut steel.

In addition, they can be used to lift heavy metal objects such as shelving beams and doors.

Blue cylinder release multi lift hand magnet lifting pieces of ferromagnetic material

Hand magnets can also sort ferromagnetic from non-ferromagnetic materials in areas such as paint tanks, coolant tanks or foundry sand.

They are particularly suited to this role because they can be easily lifted by the handle into the tank to collect the ferromagnetic material, allowing the user to be a safe distance from the non-ferromagnetic material, for example nails, which could be sharp.
