There are three different types of hand magnet: lift, multi-lift, and magnetic claw. These all come in a wide variety of different shapes and sizes, but their basic characteristics stay the same for example, they all have an easy to use handle and a magnet.
Lift hand magnets
A lift hand magnet is the smallest kind of hand magnet. It is simply a magnet with a handle which can be used to lift pieces of sheet steel after they have been cut, or to lift steel doors off electrical boxes.
Multi-lift hand magnets
A multi-lift hand magnet consists of a long handle which protrudes from the centre of a magnet. It is used to collect dropped pieces of ferromagnetic materials from awkward places, e.g. down steep steps, and to lift sheet steel.
Magnetic claw hand magnets
A magnetic claw hand magnet has a hinged handle which allows it to carry steel sheets in a variety of different positions, making carrying large pieces of ferromagnetic materials easier.
