There are three different types of multi-lift hand magnet available: standard, release and cylinder release.
Standard multi-lift
The standard multi-lift hand magnet is the most basic variety. It is made up of a magnet and a handle, with no release system.
Some standard multi-lift hand magnets come with a threaded riv-nut in the top. This is due to the manufacturers creating the standard multi lift hand magnet at the same time as a retrieving magnet which has the same basic shape as the hand magnet. The difference between them is that a standard multi-lift hand magnet has a handle, whereas a retrieving magnet will have an eye bolt attached to the threaded riv-nut.
Release multi-lift
The release multi-lift hand magnet is always square or rectangular in shape with a handle and ‘finger’ release system. A release multi-lift hand magnet is made in this shape to enable the user to collect dropped ferromagnetic materials from hard to reach corners, which is aided by the square shape and the long handle.
Cylinder release multi-lift
The cylinder release multi-lift hand magnet is the same as the release multi-lift hand magnet, but with a cylindrical magnet instead of a square magnet. A cylinder release multi-lift hand magnet is the most useful type of multi-lift hand magnet when it comes to collecting ferromagnetic materials. This is because it has a larger surface area than the other types so it would be able to lift more ferromagnetic materials in one collection.
