Dull blades need to be replaced Once a blade has become dull it will need replacing. The method used to remove a blade, depends on the blade securing mechanism which a craft knife uses. How to replace the blade on a craft knife with a bayonet fitting The following instructions detail how to remove a blade and insert a new one on a craft knife with a bayonet fitting.
Lift the blade away from the handle

Step 1 – Detach blade

Holding the non-cutting side of the old blade between the thumb and forefinger of your dominant hand, use the forefinger of your other hand lift the part of the blade nearest the handle. Then carefully the pull the blade away from the handle with your dominant hand.

Remove the blade from the handle by sliding it off

Step 2 – Remove blade

Remove the blade completely by sliding it away from the handle and off of the bayonet fitting. Remember to dispose of the old blade safely.

Attach the new blade by aligning it with the bayonet fitting

Step 3 –  Attach new blade

To attach a new blade, firstly align the larger part of the slot in the blade with the bayonet fitting on the handle.

Slide the blade into the handle until it locks into place Slide the blade over the fitting and into the slot in the handle until it locks into place. The blade will be slightly bent as you slide it over the fitting, but will straighten when it snaps into place.
Once the blade is replaced the craft knife is ready for use Once the blade has been replaced, your craft knife will be like new and ready to use.
