Place the brick rake in the hand you feel most confident using. | |||

Grip the handle and rest your thumb on the flat portion of the brick rake. | |||

When working, hold the tool parallel to the mortar you wish to rake and use your thumb and fingers to push or drag the pin across these areas.
As you drag the pin through the mortar, apply downward pressure to scrape the mortar away. |
