Oil and polish the wooden handle regularly with a little linseed oil and a cloth.
The best way to apply the oil is to pour it onto the cloth and then run the cloth up and down and around the handle of the push pin; let the oil soak in. Re-apply as necessary.
Cleaning the stainless steel of your push pin
You should clean the stainless steel barrel of your push pin regularly, with soap or a mild detergent and warm water followed by a clean water rinse. Thoroughly wipe it dry.
Cleaning the brass of your push pin
If the brass parts of your push pin are dirty or oily, clean them by mixing a mild detergent with warm water, then dip a soft cloth into the water, and wipe down the brass part of the tool with the cloth.
Polishing your push pin
If you wish to keep your brass tool shiny, you will need to buff it by applying brass polish to a cloth, and rubbing it into the brass. Use a second, clean, dry cloth to buff the brass to a shine.
Storing your push pin
The wooden handle of a push pin is prone to drying out and cracking or splitting so it should be stored indoors or in a toolbox, away from sunlight.
