To attach a threaded stud magnetic mounting pad to a non-ferromagnetic material, and, for example, attach a plastic sign to a car roof, you will need to do the following steps:

  • Car roof sign
  • Nylon insert lock nut
  • Wrench
  • Cordless screwdriver

Step 1 – Remove base panel

Car roof signs have a hole in the centre of their base panel to allow them to be attached to a threaded stud magnetic mounting pad. To access the hole, you will have to remove the base panel of the sign.

Step 2 – Insert stud through hole

Insert the threaded stud through the hole on the base panel until the back plate of the threaded stud magnetic mounting pad and the base panel of the sign are touching.

Step 3 – Attach nylon lock nut

Place the nylon lock nut onto the threaded stud and turn clockwise until the threaded stud comes into contact with the nylon insert. Then, use a wrench to tighten the nut onto the threaded stud, until the nut cannot be tightened any further.

Step 4 – Screw base panel back on

Once the threaded stud magnetic mounting pad is attached, place the base panel back onto the taxi sign.

Use the cordless screwdriver to reattach the screws to the sign. The sign can now be attached to any ferromagnetic materials such as a car roof.
