These rasps are shorter than other designs and made to fit easily in a pocket.
The plastic handle of these rasps will often be made of two materials, one of which will be a softer, rubber-like material (often thermoplastic rubber). This improves the grip and comfort of the handle.
These dry wall rasps have a coarse-toothed blade that enable them to rapidly reshape the edges of plasterboard. The teeth of the blade are designed to work in both directions so you can reshape the plasterboard with both forward and backward strokes of the rasp, saving you time.
These rasps are available with guide rails along their edges which help to keep the rasp running correctly along the plasterboard edge and prevent the user catching their fingers on the sharp blade.
Plaster dust and shavings are collected within the handle above the blade and can be emptied out once you have finished.

Available with additional features such as guide rails and soft grip handles
Small size allows them to fit in a pocket
Creates less mess than designs with a grate as plaster dust is collected within the handle

The coarse-toothed blade removes material in forward and reverse directions
Small size means it takes longer to trim the edge of plasterboard to size
