A multi-tool rasp incorporates one or more other tools, making it a bit like the Swiss Army knife of dry wall rasps.
These rasps look different depending on the other types of tool they have incorporated into their design. The other tools are most commonly a jab saw, panel lifter, bottle opener and utility knife.
However, by far the most common is the jab saw multi-tool rasp, as ones with a bottle opener and panel lifter are not readily available in the UK and utility knife multi-tool rasps are no longer in production.
If you are not going to be cutting a lot of plasterboard then a multi-tool rasp can be a useful way of cutting down on the number of different tools you have in your tool box. They are not as effective as other dry wall rasps, though, so are not as suitable for professionals who have a lot of plasterboard to fit.
