Step 1 – Position chain

Place the chain strap over the oil filter.

Step 2 – Turn adaptor

Turn the adaptor anti-clockwise to tighten the chain around the oil filter. This enables the chain to overlap with itself around the adaptor causing the chains grip to tighten around the filter.

Step 3 – Choose drive tool

To rotate the adaptor, use either a square drive such as a hand ratchet inserted into the adaptor, or use a hexagonal drive such as a spanner on the exterior of the adaptor.

1/2 inch (13mm) square drives are the most common used drives but you will need a tool with a drive that corresponds to the dimensions of your adaptor.

Step 4 – Position drive tool

Step 5 – Turn tool and wrench

Turn the tool anti-clockwise along with the wrench to remove the filter.
