Parts of a telescopic inspection mirror; mirror head, swivel ball joint, telescopic shaft sections, handle grip
Telescopic inspection mirrors have four basic parts: the mirror head, connecting ball joint, telescopic shaft section and handle grip.

What makes it different to other inspection mirrors is the telescopic section, allowing it to extend.

Swivel ball joint

Ball joint hinge The telescopic inspection mirror has a swivel ball joint attaching the mirror to the shaft. This has two balls attached at each side and allows the mirror to be rotated 360 degrees. It is also rigid enough to hold the mirror in position whilst the user works.

Mirror head

mirror head The telescopic inspection mirror can have either a round, square or oval mirror head to help the user see into hard to reach places.

Telescopic shaft

Telescopic shaft The telescopic inspection mirror has a shaft made up of a number of sections; these sections allow the tool to extend. The tool can sometimes be referred to by the number of telescopic sections it has, for example a 4-section inspection mirror.

Handle grip

Handle grip The handle of the telescopic inspection mirror can have either a plastic or a cushioned rubber handle. The cushioned rubber handle stops the tool slipping in wet or oily hands.
