Flexible inspection mirrors have three basic parts: a mirror head, flexible shaft and handle. Some flexible inspection mirrors have a plunger handle which can control the mirror head.
Mirror head
The mirror head of the flexible inspection mirror can be either round or square. Unlike the telescopic inspection mirror, it does not have a ball joint attachment, meaning it cannot be turned 360 degrees but stays facing the same way. The flexible inspection mirror with a plunger handle is an exception to this.
Flexible shaft
The shaft of the flexible inspection mirror can be bent into different positions, allowing the user to manoeuvre it around obstructions.
Handle grip
The handle of the flexible inspection mirror can have either a plastic or a cushioned rubber handle. The cushioned rubber handle stops the tool slipping in wet or oily hands.
Plunger handle
There is a flexible inspection mirror currently available with a plunger handle. This allows the user to control the angle of the mirror once it has already been inserted into the desired position. This is controlled by pressing the handle spring down with the palm of your hand to angle the mirror.
