Operating the pawl

Unwinding

Pull the ratchet switch pawl all the way back in to the down position. To unwind the cable, turn the crank handle anti-clockwise.

Winding in

Push the ratchet switch pawl forward to the up position.

To wind in the cable, turn the crank handle clockwise.

Unlocking

To place the winch in a neutral position place the ratchet switch pawl in the position shown in the picture.This will allow the the winch to rotate freely in either direction.

Step 1 – Place ratchet switch

Place the ratchet switch pawl into the down position.

Step 2 – Unwind cable

Turn the crank handle anti-clockwise to unwind as much cable that is required.

Step 3 – Attach hook

Attach the hook to the load.

Step 4 – Place ratchet switch

Push the ratchet switch pawl all the way forward to the up position.

Step 5 – Wind cable

Turn the crank handle clockwise to wind in the cable and pull the load.

Step 6 – Release load

To release the load place the ratchet switch pawl from the up position to the down position.

Step 7 – Hold crank handle

During this process, keep hold of the crank handle to prevent the load from moving.

Release the crank handle slowly ensuring the ratchet switch pawl is engaged before releasing it completely.

Step 8 – Releasing crank handle

Once the load is in this position it can be released slowly one ratchet at a time.
