The materials used to make lino knives are important to how well they function and how long they last.
High carbon steel
High carbon steel contains more than 0.5% carbon. This type of steel provides lino knives with a hard and durable blade that stays sharp for long periods of use, is strong and does not easily damage.
Stainless steel
Stainless steel is made up of iron, nickel and chromium. It resists staining, corrosion and is used to make blades for its strength.
Beechwood
Beechwood is used to make the handles of some lino knives. It is a very hard and tough wood, with excellent strength properties and high abrasion resistance. This material is also aesthetically pleasing and comfortable to hold.
Polypropylene
Polypropylene is tough and flexible, and provides handles with a comfortable and secure grip.
Thermoplastic rubber (TPR)
Thermoplastic rubber, also used for handles, is a mixture of polymers that produce a material which has the characteristics of both rubber and plastic.
TPR is tough, lightweight and soft to the touch. It is waterproof, recyclable, flexible even in low temperatures and has the ability to stretch then return back to its original shape.
