To avoid the vehicle rolling, at the opposite end to the axle stands, place wheel chocks at the downhill side of the wheel or front and back of the wheel if on level ground.
Step 2 – Use trolley jack
As axle stands can only support a vehicle, a jack will be needed to lift the vehicle, so the stands can be placed underneath.
Step 3 – Open legs
Ensure the legs of the stands are fully extended and adjust the height of the stand to correspond with the raised vehicle.
Step 4 – Position axle stands
Position the axle stands underneath the vehicle.
Refer to the vehicle owner’s manual for the correct load support points as they may vary.
Step 5 – Adjust height
To adjust ratchet stands, hold the locking lever whilst lifting the centre column to the desired height.
Push the locking lever down to enable the pawl to lock into the teeth located on the centre column. Make sure the pawl is fully engaged into the teeth. Reinsert the safety pin if the stand has one.
To adjust peg stands, remove pin (peg) and lift the centre column to the desired height. Replace the pin through the appropriate hole to lock in place.
