The vee block locates the cylindrical part so that its centre line is perpendicular to the base of the tool and parallel to its sides.
Screw clamps are used to secure the part in the channel of the vee block.
The three points of contact provided by the two sides of the vee block, together with the clamp, ensure that the part is gripped firmly so that it can be accurately machined.
The vee block is then secured in the vice of the milling machine or drill press or installed onto the T-slots of the machine.
