However, you can find out if your drill will take the mortar rake by opening the chuck jaws to their maximum capacity and inserting the mortar rake. The mortar rake should slide into the jaws easily and allow them to be tightened against its surface. |

Another way to test whether the drill chuck can accomodate the shank of the mortar rake is to measure the width between the chuck jaws when they are opened to their maximum capacity.
Then measure the width of the end of the shank. If the shank width is smaller then the chuck capacity than your mortar rake will fit into your drill. |

Mortar rakes for drills are usually fluted. Fluted mortar rakes come in either three or four flutes. The more flutes there are, the more even the mortar clearance will be. | |||
