Mortar rakes are much faster than hand-powered mortar raking tools. They also require less manpower.
When removing mortar, people often use angle grinders with discs, however, because the discs are circular, they extend over a larger area than the mortar they are cutting into, and often cut the brickwork as well!
Mortar rakes are easier to control and handle than the discs used in angle grinders.
Using a mortar rake with an angle grinder gives you the option to use a mortar rake starter kit.
A starter kit includes a selection of adaption rings that secure the sole plate onto the spindle of the angle grinder. The sole plate encases the spindle and prevents the dust and debris, created during mortar raking, from going into the air. Instead it is directed into a dust extraction unit.
If a dust extraction unit is attached to the sole plate then the dust and debris will be sucked away from the area you are working on and into the industrial vacuum.
