‘Slapbrushing’ is a technique using the wooden texturing brush and is much simpler to carry out on a ceiling. This is an instance where the longer bristles of the wooden brush are beneficial.
Step 1 – Prepare room
Ensure the rest of the room/area is covered. This can get messy.
Step 2 – Attach handle
Attach the wooden texturing brush to a broom handle with a corresponding diameter. The handle is beneficial for working on hard-to-reach surfaces.
Step 3 – Apply product
Apply your chosen product using a roller.
Step 4 – Coat brush
Apply more product to the texturing brush, using the roller.
Step 5 – Begin ‘slapbrushing’ process
Whilst still wet, begin to ‘slap’ the brush against the surface. Use a reasonable amount of force (you want the product to leave the brush, but not damage the ceiling or wall).
Step 6 – Rotate brush in-between ‘slaps’.
As you bring the brush away from the surface, rotate it 90° and move along the surface a small amount.
Repeat this over the whole surface, reapplying product to the brush when necessary.
Step 7 – Check your work
Ensure there are no lines or uneven patches and fill in if necessary.
