Don’t use solvents or water-based cleaning solutions on the plastic (PVC) handles. Instead, clean them under dry conditions by carefully sweeping with a hand brush to remove any dust or debris.
Wipe the whole tool with a cloth and dry it after every use, to prevent rusting of the metal parts. Store the tool in a dry place.
Sharpening a slate and punch cutter blade
If you use the cutter only to cut slate, following the manufacturer’s instructions, then you won’t need to sharpen the blade unnecessarily.
When it does come time to sharpen the blade, use a sharpening stone and simply push it along the blade several times, as shown.
Please note: Cutters with a hardened, non-replaceable blade will not require sharpening.
Spare parts
If you misplace or damage your slate and punch cutter, repair kits are available for certain models which contain replacement parts. These usually consist of a replacement spring, screws with washers and two bolts with nuts.
