A roofing bar, also known as a roofing clamp, is a specialist hand tool used to quickly and accurately space battens on a roof, speeding up the whole roofing process.
A batten is traditionally a length of timber that horizontally spans the width of a roof. Plastic and metal battens are also available.
Battens are used in buildings to cover joints, provide a fixing and support tiles or slates. They are placed horizontally across the rafters, in even rows.
Battens support the overlapping tiles and slates, so they need to be correctly spaced in order to make sure that the roof is weathertight.
