There are several different types of mixing board – they come in two shapes, square and octagonal, and different sizes, and are manufactured from a variety of waterproof materials.
Each board can be used as a base to mix materials and they can hold material while you are working.
Square mixing boards
Some square mixing boards have rounded, slightly raised sides all around, which help reduce spillage and waste.
Other have raised sides on one half of the board, which helps reduce spillage to some extent.
However, some square mixing boards are completely flat, with no raised sides, so greater care needs to be taken to avoid spillage.
Octagonal mixing board
Octagonal mixing boards have raised sides all round the board, which minimises spillage.
