Standard mitre saw protractors come with a two scale protractor that is able to measure angles to produce mitre and single cuts. | |||
Combination mitre saw protractors |

Combination mitre saw protractors performs the same functions as the above design, and include the same scale used to determine the angles for mitre and single cuts.
However, they also come with additional features which allow them to measure and convert angles using a conversion table, so compound cuts can be produced. They also come with a roof pitch scale and protractor to determine the pitch of a roof. |

Combination protractors contain a two scale protractor that measures actual angles instead of specific angles such as mitre or single cut angles.
An actual angle, for example, would be a 45 degree angle shown as 45 degrees on a protractor. A specific angle in terms of a mitre saw protractor could be a 45 degree mitre cut, but really it would be a 90 degree angle. This is because a mitre cut angle is half of the original angle that is actually measured. |
