A screeding level can be used in several different ways to complete a floor coating; it can be used to spread, smooth and compact.
There are no exact rules on how to use a screeding level; they are often used in slightly varying ways by different people. Here’s a basic guide to how the tool can be used.
Step 1 – Prepare flooring product
Prepare the ground and flooring product according to instructions. This may include the use of screed rails. Apply the product to the prepared ground.
Step 2 – Grip screeding level
The screeding level is held in both hands, gripping the handles with knuckles up.
Step 3 – place screeding level
Place the screeding level flat on to the edge of the product or screed rails accordingly.
For spreading
Step 4a – Move screeding level
Push or pull the screeding level, applying firm downward pressure, to disperse the product.
For smoothing
Step 4b – Move screeding level
Glide the screeding level side to side across the surface of the product, whilst pulling it towards you. Apply slight downward pressure to smooth and level.
For tamping
Step 4c – Move screeding level
Pat the screeding level repeatedly over the surface of the product to compact.
