This is a testing gauge with an easy-to-read triple scale with values shown in bar, psi and kPa scales.
Bar
The bar is a unit of pressure measurement. 1 bar is equal to 14.5 psi or 100 kPa. One bar roughly equals atmospheric pressure at sea level.
Pounds per square inch (psi)
Pounds per square inch is an imperial unit of pressure. It is pressure resulting from a force of one pound applied to an area of one square inch.
KiloPascal (kPa)
KiloPascal is a metric measurement of force per unit area, defined as 1 Newton per square metre. (A kilogram is equivalent to about 9.8 Newtons).
Pipe dry testing kit dial and needle
The dial is the circular face of the gauge upon which readings are displayed.
The needle is the thin object with a point on the end located in the centre of the dial. The needle points to the readings on the dial to indicate the pressure being observed.
Pipe dry testing kit schrader valve
This is the same type of valve found on most bicycle wheels. The valve is used to release or insert air to pressurise the system being tested.
The Schrader valve will allow use of a standard pump with the appropriate adaptor; the pump could operated by hand, foot or electricity.
How a schrader valve works?
This is the schrader valve closed as the pin is pushed against the release hole by air pressure. When the pin is closed, air is trapped inside the system.
Once the pin is pushed down, the end opens, allowing air to be released from the system.
Pipe dry testing kit push fit fitting
The push fit fitting contains a clamp that will seal and connect the testing gauge to the end of a pipe.
Pipe dry testing kit rubber boot
As the gauge contains small components, it needs to be handled carefully to make sure it does not become faulty or damaged. The protective rubber boot covers the gauge to help protect from impact.
Pipe dry testing kit flexible hose
A flexible hose is used to connect the end of the testing gauge to the pipe system that you will be testing. The flexible hose provides extra length so tests can be performed in confined spaces.
Flexible hoses are only available with one type of connection for a pipe dry testing kit. This connection is a push fit fitting.
The push fit fitting is pushed on to the pipe system you are testing. The pipe reaches the pipe stop, with the teeth providing a firm grip on the pipe. The ring seal creates a tight seal around the pipe, not allowing air to escape.
If you want to attach a flexible hose to your testing gauge then you need a flexible hose with a straight pipe connection.
Flexible hoses are available to purchase in lengths of 300, 500 and 900mm (12, 20 and 36 inch). They come with 15mm push-fit fittings on one end to fit the pipe being tested, and a short length of straight pipe, with a diameter of 15mm, on the other end for connection to the tester .
