Before using an olive cutter it is important to know what you are doing so that you don’t damage the piping. Read our guide on how to use an olive cutter!
Step 1 – Unscrew compression fitting
Firstly, unscrew the compression fitting, using a pair of adjustable spanners or crescent pliers.
Step 2 – Slide back nut
Remove the compression fitting and slide back the compression fitting nut to reveal the olive.
Step 3 – Attach olive cutters
Slip the head of the olive cutters over the pipe.
Step 4 – Align blades
Align the cutting blades with the olive you wish to remove.
Step 5 – Squeeze handles
Apply pressure to the handles, squeezing them together firmly. As the handles come together, they force the cutting blades upwards, snipping into the olive as it goes.
Step 6 – Remove cutters
Remove the cutters from the pipe.
Step 7 – Remove olive
Your olive is now cut and can be easily removed from the pipe. Congratulations! You have successfully removed your olive.
Please note: Never try to cut off a steel olive with an olive cutter, you will only damage your tool. As steel has been tempered, it is too hard to be cut with olive cutters.
