Folding car creepers tale the form of a two in one folding car creeper and seat. They usually have a steel frame with a padded back bench and headrest made from vinyl.
The trolley section will often have a split back design that allows dual application. To switch from car creeper to seat it only takes a short amount of time with no tools necessary.
How to switch from car creeper to seat
Step 1 – Release lock
Push the lever in to release the lock.
Step 2 – Raise seat
Whilst holding the lock lever down, pull the band on the back bench upwards to raise the seat towards you.
Step 3 – Release locking lever
Release the lock lever to engage the lock with the seat’s leg bar and lock it in place.
Car creepers with adjustable headrests
Some car creepers come with an adjustable headrest to support the user’s head in different positions. The adjustable headrest enables the user to get a better view without straining their neck.
On the back of the adjustable headrest there should be a slotted adjuster with a series of grooves enclosed by a retainer. The adjusting rod has a U-shaped portion that is placed between the series of grooves and the retainer.
The height and angle of the headrest is adjusted by inserting the U-shaped portion of the adjusting rod into one of the grooves.
Simply push the adjusting rod forward to release the U-portion from the grooves and place the headrest to your desired height or angle.
Then, place U-shaped portion into the groove to lock the headrest in place.
Contoured car creepers
Contoured creepers tend not to have a padded lining; rather, they are often made from a solid material and moulded into a curve for the user’s body to fit comfortably in.
A contoured car creeper may contain a handle at the bottom end to allow the user to move, carry, or hang it storage.
Some models also have indents on either side, which can be used as tool trays for storing tools while performing maintenance.
LED lights
Some models of contoured car creeper have an LED (Light-Emitting Diode) light that is flexible and can be positioned at any angle to help improve working conditions.
Car creepers with raised sides
Car creepers with raised sides allow the user to hold on to either side of the trolley while moving to different places. This can give you more control when moving.
Low profile car creepers
Some car creepers have a bone-shaped design which is usually made from one piece of moulded polypropylene copolymer.
These creepers usually have four large castor wheels with extra wide tyres to easily manoeuvre over rough surfaces such as gravel, grass, broken concrete, sand, or garage floor obstacles such as cords or floor drains.
