The bristle material you should use depends on which area of the brake you are going to be brushing.Less robust areas of the brakes will need to be brushed using brass bristles as they are softer and less abrasive, and so will not cause damage. More robust areas of the brakes can be brushed with steel bristles.
However, when brushing brakes it’s difficult not to come into contact with both delicate and robust areas. Make sure you are careful and aim to use the correct brush on the appropriate areas. |

Step 1 – Hold brushHold the handle of the brush with your dominant hand – this will give you greater control and leverage. |

Brake cleaner can be sprayed on to the brakes to lubricate and help remove any dirt or brake dust – this is optional. | |||

Step 2 – Place brushPlace the bristles of the brush on to the area that you want to clean. |

Step 3 – BrushRun the brush backwards and forwards as many times as necessary until the area is clean. |
