SawStop CNS175-TGP36 Table Saw

For the professional who needs to handle heavy-duty projects with ease, you can never go wrong with the SawStop CNS175-TGP36 1-3/4 HP contractor saw. This is just an all-round great machine which comes with a 36-Inch professional T-glide fence system including rails and extension table.

The great thing about the T-glide fence system that comes with this table is that it boasts rails that extend your tables space. This gives you the capability to make precise cuts with plywood sheets and longer boards consistently, which makes it so convenient when working with this table saw on site at big projects.

Saying this, the SawStop CNS175-TGP36 table saw model is actually designed to be a static saw. However, SawStop hasn’t limited this model to just that. They have made sure that this table saw is compatible with a range of different stands and trolleys. This allows you to make this device portable with one of these add-ons and make the table saw a lot more portable.

SawStop started out as a power tools safety specialists and it really shows in the technology they have developed. Their unique safety technology is industry-leading. It works through emitting an electronic current through the blade when it is in operation so if there is ever a break in this current then the saw instantly stops. This means that if there was contact with a hand, for example, the electric current would drop and the saw would instantly stop. We don’t recommend testing this theory out (just in case), but from the many demonstration videos you can find online you can see how the saw will leave you with as little as a nick.

When using the SawStop CNS175-TGP36 you can just tell it has been designed and made by people who have used a range of different table saws on a daily basis. It shows the most when doing simple things like the process of creating angled cuts. As you cut the saw gently lifts up and to the left, which stops the wood from knocking or rubbing against the fence.

In addition to this, there is an easy reset system that means you can completely reset the saw in less than 5 minutes. All of these little clever design ideas come together and make using this table saw so easy and cuts so precise. That’s why at Wonkee Donkee we have a lot of time for the simplicity of the machine. If you need a contractors table saw then why not choose the one that’s built by fellow contractors with enhanced safety features from SawStop.

SawStop CNS175-SFA30 Table Saw

When it comes to stand-alone table saws (compared to portable table saws) we love the SawStop brand. So that is why our 2nd pick is also a SawsTop model, the CNS175-SFA30 table saw in fact. You may think we are biased (and sometimes we do too) but it is hard to overlook any SawStop table saws when you are looking for the best models available.

If you’re looking for a table saw to use regularly at contracts then you will really appreciate the 30-Inch aluminium extrusion fence and rail kit. These intelligent features allow you to add on the fence system and rails to extend the length of the table, which becomes necessary when working with larger sheets or longer boards. SawStop don’t just stop there though. They have also included an extrusion fence which means you can easily move those boards across the top for better and more accurate cuts. Everything is about making cuts with complete precision.

As we’ve discussed already, the SawStop has its own automated cut off system that stops you cutting yourself, which is less likely with contractors but still, there is always the possibility of hacking kickback that pushing you towards the blade. We know we have already mentioned it but if you have not seen their demonstration videos on how this works, we really recommend you check them out. You’ll be amazed.

But back to the SawStop CNS175-SFA30 table saw, and the quality design features just keep coming. The 4-inch dust port means that work surfaces remain clean and tidy whilst in use and helps reduce the likelihood of inaccurate cuts or damage to the machine. It also has the capability to fit both traditional and dado blades so you can make different cuts depending on the projects needs.

As we said before you can’t go wrong with a SawStop table saw. If you are not sure which is best between the CNS175-SFA30 and the CNS175-TGP36 table saws then our advice would be to read a little more into the different models and find out which is best for the tasks you need it to do.

Ridgid R4512 Table Saw

The Rigid R4512 is the first non-SawStop table saw that makes our best contractors table saw list. From just glancing at its specifications you know that it has a good amount of power with a 13 amp motor that generates 3,000 revolutions per minute. Not only is this motor powerful it also performs consistently, allowing you to work on larger, more wood intensive projects without needing breaks. This means that you can get the job done faster without compromising on the quality of your cuts.

The Ridgid R4512 is built from quality materials such as the cast iron base that is strong enough to support the weight of pretty much all wood. This strong cast iron also does a really good job in absorbing the vibrations produced when the saw is in operation making it more comfortable for the operator.

It’s also really well designed. You are able to comfortably access the braking system and the hand-wheel. This hand-wheel means you can rotate the front crank to get more control over the blade during cuts. Then, of course, the brake system lets you put your foot down to automatically stop the blade spinning. This helps prevent making a mistake if you lose control when feeding the material through the blade or if your hand gets dangerously close to the blade. In addition, the Ridgid R4512 has rolling coasters tucked underneath the saw and inside its cabinet to help you move the table saw easily.

Unfortunately, the Ridgid R4512 doesn’t actually come with any extension pieces, but it will work with a lot of extensions and fencing add-ons available on the market. But don’t let that slight drawback put you off. At Wonkee Donkee we love RIGID’s quality guarantee. They promise that their table surface is completely even, so you can have confidence and peace of mind that your cuts will all be level. It really is just a great all round table saw, a real workhorse that won’t slow you down.

DeWalt DWE7491RS Table Saw

If you are a contractor who spends less time in your shop and probably more time working on sites then you will love this DeWalt model. It’s definitely durable and dependable enough for use as a workshop table saw, but it has the added bonus of coming with a rolling stand that allows you to take it to job sites.

The saw also has a 4-leg stand that can unfold from the bottom of the saw to create a base for working. This is all part of the intelligent design that DeWalt have built with a focus around easy portability and quick set up. Then when you are done, simply fold the legs back into the device making the saw more compact ready to roll to the next job.

At Wonkee Donkee, we think the DeWalt DWE7491RS is a bit of a black horse. At first glance, it doesn’t look as strong as the other table saws on the list. But don’t be fooled. DeWalt have fitted a 15 amp motor that means you can cut through almost any type of hardwood. Add to this a massive 32.5-inch rip capacity that helps you cut through wood even faster.

As with all DeWalt tools the overall design has a range of clever little features which really make the table saw a great tool. Things such as the collection port, which measures 2.5-inches with a great vacuum attachment to help remove the dust immediately. Yeah, this dust port is not the largest, others are 4-4.5 inches but it’s so well designed that you won’t notice. DeWalt also includes a free push stick and the standard model comes with a 10-inch carbide-tipped blade.

It is no surprise that DeWalt has made another great quality power tool. It’s just what they do. The DeWalt DWE7491RS table saw is in our opinion the best portable table saw for contractors that are available on the market. It comes without a compromise of power and the foldable stand makes the design compact and so easy to set up when you get on the project site.

Bosch 4100-10 Table Saw

The DeWalt DWE7491RS is not without a competitor though when talking about the best portable table saw for contractors. In honesty, the Wonkee Donkee team are split on this one and it was only a unanimous vote that the DeWalt won by. This is because the Bosch 4100-10 table saw is not only well-designed but also extremely well-built. Regardless of whether you are working in your workshop or if you are out on site the Bosch 4100-10 table saw is a great performer.

There is a major advantage to using the same saw both in the workshop and on-site. You are to replicate exact cuts on a machine that you are comfortable with using and behaves the same in both environments. This means the cut pieces are much more likely to work together and that you don’t have to keep switching your cutting technique in order to match the saw you’re using.

The main feature of this table saw is obviously its portability. It is really lightweight, especially for its power output, and designed to be compact. You can easily grab it and transport it in the bed of your truck or the trunk of your car because it really doesn’t take up a lot of space.

It comes with a basic stand that cleverly uses gravity to gently and slowly come up to the perfect height for working. This stand also comes with wheels attached to make moving it around the site easier, there are also an additional 2 legs that fold down for support. This ensures complete stabilisation when you are using the table saw which means your cuts are accurate every time.

When it comes to the performance of this Bosch table saw you won’t be disappointed. The 15 amp motor spins the circular saw at 3,650 rpm and a rip capacity of 25 inches. This makes it more than enough power and size to take on any of the tasks you will need to complete on your job site. Bosch has also included a range of high-quality protection systems such as the smart guard system that contains anti-kickback pawls and a riveting knife to protect the operator. Finally, they have also added an opaque guard to prevent users from making contact with the blade whilst also making for an obstructed view when making cuts.

Bosch has really thrown their hat into the ring with the Bosch 4100-10 when you are talking about the best portable table saw for contractors. It has everything you need from being powerful enough to handle large cuts to being lightweight, compact, easy to transport and quick set up. If you need a table saw when you are working on the move then you should really consider the Bosch 4100-10 table saw model.
